Players to Get A Longer Game

Chris Hughton talking to nufcTV

Darlington Badge"We'll look at the two games, Darlington on Saturday and Huddersfield on Tuesday, and rotate the players around those games. We had a full compliment of players in Ireland and gave everyone 45 minutes. But we'll look to give the players more time on the pitch over these two games as we start progressing through the pre-season. Darlington will be a stiffer test than Shamrock and we're expecting a good game.

It's great to see the international lads back and it hasn't taken them long to get into the swing of things. One thing you can rely on nowadays is players generally come back in good shape. We'll take our time easing them in but it shouldn't take long before they're up to speed."

Deep End Boys

Damien Duff talking to nufcTV

"Chris and Colin have been thrown in at the deep end but they are totally focussed on the job. They are two great guys and all of the lads respect them. They have put on a tough pre-season but it's been good and I'm sure we'll reap the rewards of that. It difficult circumstances but they are both very professional and the players respect them for that. Of course we'd like to see the situation sorted, but for the time being we all have to be professional and get on with the job of preparing for the new season."

Darlo next

"I think this game will be tougher than Shamrock Rovers. We've had another tough week after Dublin and it's good to have a game at the end of it. This is a local derby and they'll be wanting to win. We're all looking forward to it and it should be another good workout."

Darlo Ready for Andy Carroll

Coach Chris Hughton said to nufcTV

"Andy will be involved for the first time and it's good to see him back. He's done well in training and is now joining in the full sessions. The reason we kept him out of those first few days of training was because of the injury he sustained towards the end of last season. But it's important that he's had no reoccurrence and we'll be hoping it stays that way."
