Chris Hughton Comments

talking to The Chronicle

“We’re in confident mood, and when it’s like that you always can’t wait to get the next game up and running. For us that is QPR. But I think we’re up against a team that are also scoring goals and have just beaten Barnsley 5-2.

They will also be thinking they can beat us, and we’ll up against a good side, who went to Cardiff and also picked up a win. They are very capable. And looking back on the 4-0 win at Ipswich, the Londoner said: I was delighted by that performance. It was just right from start to finish.

The thing that pleased me most was that we did not concede. We were able to leave without conceding, and that is a massive feat sometimes in this division. Once we had the break we were able to take our chances.

I think the players deserve a lot of credit for this performance. But everybody is switched on and now preparing for the next game.”

Chris on Danny Simpson, talking to The Chronicle

“I have been absolutely delighted with him, and I am pleased to welcome him back. This is not a 19-year-old coming up through the ranks at Manchester United. “He has been there for a while, and has also been out on loan at Blackburn and Sunderland. “This is a lad who has a little bit of experience. “That is something you will always need.”

Glenn Roedar on Newcastle

talking to The Chronicle

“I’ve run out of adjectives to describe what has happened there since I left the club. But there is only one group of people I feel sorry for – and that’s the fans. It really does leave a bad taste in your mouth what has happened. You couldn’t write a tragedy story that is worse. Whatever way you box it all up, it’s just a tragedy. And what I mean by that is there seems to have been little understanding that Newcastle United Football Club is a part of so many people’s lives it’s untrue.

It really is gut-wrenching. But life is like football in the way that it’s a revolving door. In that way it can change for the better too and hopefully Newcastle can get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking. Fingers crossed, it does happen. But if and when it does Newcastle have to get their house in order because if relegation was to happen again then it could be just horrible for the fans to have to go through it again.

There could be a few little hiccups. But every team is going to be up for playing at St James’s – after all a lot of players who play there this season may never do so again in their lives. QPR on current form will be up for it, but they will have to bridge the gap in class.”

Loan Signing Zurab Khizanishvili Debuts At Home

talking to The Chronicle

“When you are a player you play where you are told to. You use your brain to adapt, and everything went well. I think I can quickly adapt to either position, it’s not a big problem for me. “I’ve not played at right-back for Rangers, Blackburn or the national team – maybe only a few. But I know I can play there if they need me to. Chris just told me before the game he wanted me at right-back at Ipswich, and it’s no problem. I will do my best and it is more important to play in the game.”

I am very much looking forward to playing my first game at St James’s Park. I have played there before for Blackburn, but this will be a new experience for me. To play for the home side is very different and very special. The games come very quickly in this division and that is good for me.”

Travel Information - A1 a Mess

For all Leicester City fan’s and Toon fans visiting Newcastle on Monday, here’s some travel information that might help you on your way.

There’s a fair amount of roadworks as you head north, allow a bit of extra time if traveling by car, the A1m northbound has various contraflow systems in place and has been especially bad from Durham onwards, expect some delays.

Plenty of speed restrictions and all average speed cameras, that doesn’t mean you should do half of the route at 80mph and the latter at 40mph.

You can find travel info on the wireless as your on your way up, and as you hit the area, you should pick up Metro Radio, BBC Newcastle and Real FM – all have decent travel info and pre-match news.

Brief info, but hope it helps.
