Chris Hails Kevin Nolan
talking to The Chronicle
“There’s no doubt that what we have experienced so far this season has been very much a team performance. But we are seeing individuals like Kevin Nolan playing very well. “We’ve always known what Kevin was capable of. He has the drive and ambition to get forward from midfield and score goals, as has Danny Guthrie. At the moment he’s playing well and scoring goals which is great for us. So far he has got six goals but for us as coaching staff, it’s not about targets.
Colo is out of the game, but we will bring Jonas Gutierrez back in. He’s back in the squad after five days of training
The most important thing is to be playing well – and he’s doing it. Kevin may well have a target in his own mind in terms of goals. For us it’s so far, so good and it’s a very good spell he’s in at the moment.
The most important thing for us is to continue the good work we’ve achieved so far. The performance at Ipswich was fabulous. But we have a home game and we are the team in form. We can’t take QPR lightly, and we can’t get carried away. For us it is very much a case of going back to business.
Glenn Roedar on Newcastle
talking to The Chronicle
“I’ve run out of adjectives to describe what has happened there since I left the club. But there is only one group of people I feel sorry for – and that’s the fans. It really does leave a bad taste in your mouth what has happened. You couldn’t write a tragedy story that is worse. Whatever way you box it all up, it’s just a tragedy. And what I mean by that is there seems to have been little understanding that Newcastle United Football Club is a part of so many people’s lives it’s untrue.
It really is gut-wrenching. But life is like football in the way that it’s a revolving door. In that way it can change for the better too and hopefully Newcastle can get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking. Fingers crossed, it does happen. But if and when it does Newcastle have to get their house in order because if relegation was to happen again then it could be just horrible for the fans to have to go through it again.
There could be a few little hiccups. But every team is going to be up for playing at St James’s – after all a lot of players who play there this season may never do so again in their lives. QPR on current form will be up for it, but they will have to bridge the gap in class.”
