Coach Alan Thompson On Reserves Win
talking to nufcTV
"After conceding five against Leeds and four against Celtic, we spoke before the game about improving at the back and I was pleased with the response. "The lads can take confidence from that and hopefully build on it and get used to the feeling of keeping a clean sheet. But he's done well tonight and has made a good save at 1-0."

Colin Calderwood Happy at St James'
talking to nufcTV
"I'm very, very happy here. It's been a really rewarding time. It was quite refreshing to come in last year and be part of a Premier League club. I've taken a lot from that and it's been a great experience. In terms of learning and adapting to situations then it's definitely been a worthwhile exercise.
It's been an excellent start, but that's all it is, a start - we've got to build from here, But we're enjoying things so far, and so too are the supporters who have been magnificent. The people around the club are wonderful to work with and they really are Newcastle United fans. They make you understand the passion and what it means to the fans. The supporters here are whole-heartedly behind the club and we hope to do the best we can for them."
Danny Simpson on Physical Challenges of the Championship
talking to nufcTV
"We have to be prepared because the Championship is a physical league and, for opposing teams, Newcastle is going to be one of their biggest games of the season,.
Hopefully the fans can understand that we can't always play pretty football. This is the Championship and it's not easy - sometimes you have to dig deep and soak up the pressure. But that's great for team bonding because you have to pull together. Obviously we'd like to win 3-0 every week, but in reality it's not going to be like that and the lads know that."
