Spurs Sign Bassong
Tottenham have completed the signing of Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong. The 23-year-old centre-back passed a medical on Thursday after agreeing personal terms, with the transfer believed to be worth about £8m
Bassong said to The Chronicle
“Playing for Newcastle was a real honour in front of the supporters at St James’s Park. It has been an unbelievable experience for me. But I have always said that I wanted to play in the Premier League and that wasn’t possible with Newcastle
It was not good for my career to be at a Championship club. I want to play in future World Cups and African Cup of Nations competitions with Cameroon. That is made more difficult if you are not playing at the higher level.”
Richard Money Reflects On The Young Guns

"I thought we played very well and it was a good game. I thought Blyth were very energetic and had some good movement up top and we had to defend pretty well at times. But some our passing and movement and attacking play was excellent. Our first goal was a great strike from Harris and the move for the goal was top drawer. The first 20 minutes of the second half were terrific and we got another two good goals.
I've said before that we've got some very good young players. How ready they are to play in the first team, time will only tell, but I think a few of them could be arriving this year. I think they can all be pleased with their efforts this pre-season."
on 16 years old, Haris Vuckic he said:
"I don't think we should forget that he's still just 16 years old. I wouldn't want people to expect too much of him too soon. We have to protect him. But he's one of those players who, the better players he plays with, then the better he looks. But anything is possible, he's a tremendous talent and showed that against Blyth with a fantastic goal."
Nile Ranger Keen To Play In The First Team
Nile talking to The Chronicle
“That’s what I am aiming for – it’s great playing for England, but I was dying to get back to Newcastle. It’s an awesome experience playing for England. Everybody would love to play for England and I’m no different. Ukraine was a good experience, but it was very hot and the food wasn’t very nice. I am just buzzing to be back, come on and score. Now I’m just hoping to be on the bus on Friday to go to West Brom. I don’t know if I will be in the squad and I won’t take anything for granted. I just have to show Chris Hughton what I’ve got.
I didn’t think I’d get on. “Alan Thompson was saying ‘you’re not coming on’. But I told him I wanted to get on for 10 minutes and he threw me in there! “It was great ball in from Phil Airey – he’s a good player and it was a nice little dink. I held off the defender – I could have gone down for a penalty but I stayed on my feet and fired home.”
Alan Thompson his coach said:
“Chris is looking at him in the next few days. He’ll see how he looks in training to see whether he travels with the first team to West Brom. We’ve seen plenty of him to know he’s a threat, but Chris Hughton will monitor him to see if he is going to travel to West Brom.”
